IPSY Glam Bag Review – What is it and is it Worth It?

It’s an opportunity to discover new products or replenish old favorites, and joining a beauty subscription service is a great way to do that at an affordable price. If you’ve been on social media over the past decade, especially in the beauty community, you’ve probably heard of the IPSY Glam Bag membership. Here’s an honest review and sneak peak of the IPSY Glam Bag and why you need this in your life if you’re a beauty lover:

What is IPSY?

IPSY is a subscription-based beauty membership that delivers a personalized package full of products to its subscribers each month. Founded by OG beauty YouTuber Michelle Phan in 2011, IPSY has become the premiere membership for beauty enthusiasts. Contrary to popular belief, IPSY Glam Bag products include more than just makeup! The product selection runs the gamut from skincare to fragrance depending on the month. It’s a great opportunity to get your hands on trial sizes of new products or replenish full-sized fan favorites depending on which subscription tier you select.

One of the best things about the IPSY Glam Bag is that it’s highly personalized, starting with a short Beauty Quiz that gathers data to help customize your IPSY experience. The quiz starts with your physical attributes to ensure that you get the correct products for you. You will select your skin tone, eye color, and hair color before diving into your personal preferences when it comes the type of beauty products you’d like to receive. They take into account everything from which eyeshadow colors you’d feel comfortable playing with, to which scent profile of perfumes you prefer. The quiz is great because it really narrows down what you’d personally enjoy receiving versus a generalized assortment of products you may never use.

How much does IPSY cost?

There is an IPSY Glam Bag to fit any budget. Here are the tiers:

Glam Bag: $13/month – Includes a small makeup bag, 5 deluxe sized samples, with one personal selection

Full Size Subscription: $28/month – Includes a medium makeup bag, 5 full-sized products, with three personal selections

Celebrity Curated Subscription : $58/quarter – Includes an upgraded celebrity curated box that comes in February, May, August, and November with 8 full sized products, 3 of which you can choose.

Billing for IPSY takes place on the last day of the month for your next month’s Glam Bag, with your bag shipping out about two week after.

Is IPSY legit?

IPSY has over 300 brand partners that supply products, including major beauty brands like Glow Recipe, Fenty Beauty and Clinique. With over 3 million subscribers, I would definitely consider IPSY a risk-free subscription service! You also have the option to cancel anytime. Pro tip: you must cancel by 12pm PT on the last day of the month if you no longer want to be billed for the following month. The Glam Bag is currently available in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. Glam Bag Plus and Glam Bag X are only available in the U.S. (including Alaska and Hawaii).

What products are in an IPSY Glam Bag?

The products you’ll receive in your IPSY Glam Bag will vary month to month. The great thing is, it’s always personalized based on your preferences – and you get to choose 1 to 3 products in advance depending on which tier you have! The best value is the Full Size Subscription, because it comes with full-sized products that generally retail for up to $120 for just $28/month. If you’re a frequent traveler, then the standard Glam Bag may be best for you since they offer deluxe samples that fit perfectly into a carry on suitcase.

My February Glam Bag came loaded with goodies, including a few products I already know and love which was a pleasant surprise. In the standard Glam Bag, there was a deluxe sample of Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion from Clinique, MAC’s Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo, Gentle Gel Facial from Grown Alchemist, an Eye Pencil in the shade Persimmon from Beauty for Certain, and a mini Photo Finish The Original Smooth & Blur Primer from Smashbox Cosmetics. The Full Size Subscription was super exciting, as it contained full sized products from Fenty Beauty, Pacifica, DIME beauty, and Beauty Bakerie!
